"Lisa, The boys LOVED their arrows--they thought they we so awesome. A local group of Eagle scouts and scout helpers who dress up like Indians and do Indian dancing did our program and they also were involved in the bridging ceremony and passed the arrows out to the boys which made everything extra cool. The boys who ordered the plaques are looking forward to sanding and staining them and the parents were impressed with the product. Just wanted to thank you again for the great arrows and kits. "I was looking at the earlier correspondence about the fletchings and I found out more information from my supplier about them. The Wild Turkey feathers on our arrows are extreemly difficult to get, and in good condition. These do not come from thanksgiving turkeys, which are white in color and have feathers close to chickens. They come from breeders or traders of primitive artifacts who collect the feathers as they are shed or clipped. It takes a long time to collect good feathers. The government legistlators want to make sure wild turkeys are not being poached for their feathers, and distributors/traders in primitive artifacts MUST substantiate and document their procedures for collecting and selling. This is true for bear claws, bones for dream catchers, antler products, etc. Our fletchings are not as perfect as dyed feathers,but they come from respectable supliers and they are real, created by nature and not subjected to poaching practices. They are also sinew wrapped to the shaft unlike others. YIS, Lisa ............................................................................................. Wow, Lisa. That is great to know. I will make sure my son is aware that the feathers are real, wild turkey. I had assumed they were synthetic. I am not at all unhappy with the arrow and the wooden plaque, and I know my son Nick will really love it. He has been very active and will have a quite colorful arrow. "Just wanted to let you know how much I think of your product. Two years ago I was searching for a arrow of light plaque for my son's graduation from cub scouts. I found your product and liked the look of it so I ordered it on the spot. I really like the fact that it is unfinished so that I could let my imagination run wild. I started out using your instructions to paint the arrow and by the time I was done the plaque was trimmed with blue, the sunburst was yellow, it was stained on the face, and had the cub scout ranks on it just like your picture shows. Then I put all 20 activity badges on it also. My son was so proud when he received it at the ceremony and it holds a place of honor on his bedroom wall. I would love to email you a photo of it. "Dear Lisa...It was a very exciting day for Andrew and us. The ceremony was so personal and so special. The presentation of the arrow was so special with our message to our son to follow the arrow which faces right. so you can go on a straight path to reaching your dreams. These weren't the exact words but everyone was in tears. When he opened the package with the arrow of light plaque, we heard many ohs and awes from the crowd. The moment I will never forget was before the ceremonies even started, even before everyone arrived. Andrew was at the awards table and our pack has the exact plaque with candles attached from behind each ray of sun. As the cubmaster reads off what each of the seven rays of sun represent they light the candle corresponding with the ray. Anyway, before the start of the banquet Andrew was running his fingers over the placque and through the rays of sun and was in deep thought and admiration and when he received his very own he was speechless. He was very happy. My husband stained it a neutural color that brought out the wood tones. We left the rays natural without any yellow paint. It looked so rich. We placed the patches along the bottom of the plaque behind the arrow. The whole arrow and plaque is absolutely beautiful. Thank you in making this presentation to our son so special. What finish did you use so I may pass that information on to others who ask........... We sprayed several coats of clear satin lacquer, sanding lightly between coats. We hand wrap career bands on our arrows with colored thread, and the mellow honey tone of the plaque really sets the colors off. There are more elaborate plaques out there, but the simple yet elegant design of yours strikes a balance between form and function. David"

"Our den received the kits and worked on staining and painting the arrows/ plagues this past week.. I have to say for myself and for the other parents of our den, we are so impressed with the traditional look of the arrow to the design of the plague. Suggestions for other parents using this kit. We decided to use ZIG Woodcraft Markers for the colors on the arrows, it make a good clean line and (not messy with a group of boys!) Also the plague was not quite as large to insert the patches as shown on your web site so we put them along the peg line which allowed the sun rise design stand out.
